Saturday

I had a nasty friday where everything seems to go the exact opposite of how i want them to turn out but its really like that sometimes and we gotta just let things be so i just took some time away from it and went to bed.

things always straighten themselves out when we give it some time.

This saturday morning, i lazed around in bed and was getting ready to leave for brunch when the sky got really dark and then it started to rain.
Decided to have instant noodles at home instead and the below dry version is one of my favorite.
its easy to make, probably takes you less than 20 minutes to get everything done and the taste is great!

i usually use the instant noodle from Tung Ee as their noodle would already have some seasoning to it so you don't really need to add in any other seasoning.

things you would need are ; 3 packets of instant noodle, 1 can of spicy pork cubes and 2 eggs, beaten.

  1. boil the noodles in a pot of water until it turns soft but not complete cooked.
  2. remove it from pot and run noodles under cold water so that they do not start to stick together.
  3. next, heat up the wok and add in everything from the spicy pork cube can, stir fry it a little and add in the noodles. stir fry it a little more.
  4. push noodles to one side of the wok, add in beaten eggs and when it solidifies, stir fry it evenly with the noodles and the pork cubes.
  5. serve with fried shallots ( made by my mum :) )

After the noodle, i had another craving for Affogato so we made our own again.

Affogato is perfect for those days when you want a little coffee with a twist. The Vanilla ice cream adds a refreshing taste to it and i love it with crushed nuts or rice krispies so that there is something to munch on :)

actually, you can add just about anything you like because ice cream does go well with everything!

things you would need for this would be ; a tub of Vanilla ice cream , 1 shot of espresso and some Rice Krispies or some crushed nuts.

For a better presentation, you may want to pour in the espresso first before you scoop in the ice cream so that it doesn't melt it so instantly.
i poured the espresso over the ice cream and then added in the rice krispies :)

so the steps really are : scoop the ice-cream into a small bowl, add in the espresso and the rice krispies and there you have it, Affogato!
easy peasy huh!

We also made our way to the National Day Parade Preview where we were both really excited about, mainly due to the fly past and the fireworks but it was raining when we got there and the fly past got cancelled, much to our disappointment :(
but i guess we can always go near the venue on the day itself or on another preview.

You can see that someone was still sad about it. heheheheh

The Artillery unit

The beautiful floating platform

The crowd with their light sticks with the beautiful singapore flyer in the background.

The fireworks were amazing but this was the only picture i got as the rest were really blurry. i was only armed with my trusty iPhone!!
i especially love how they insert bits of fireworks into different segments of the parade.
it added some much appreciated highlights throughout the parade and i think the show this year is the best i've seen so far.

Its sunday tomorrow. Have a good one!
